Art is a powerful tool for activism. It can unite people, break down barriers, educate and inspire people to take action—and it's a great way to express yourself on issues that are important to you.
To mark International Women’s Day on March 8th, Girls Action Foundation is creating a digital zine featuring original artwork and writing by girls* and young womxn from across Canada.
So, how can you participate? Submit an original piece of art or writing made to inspire people in your community, and around the world, to take action towards gender equality. Get creative!—submissions can be blog posts, poems, photos, a personal essay, a collage, drawings or doodles, the sky is the limit. Submissions can be in French or English and must be sent by March 1, 2020 to communications@girlsactionfoundation.ca.
We can't wait to see what you create!
International Women's Day Digital Zine Guidelines:
Who can participate?: Girls* and young womxn ages 13-25. If you are outside of this age range, you can still participate. Intergenerational mentorship is an important component of the work we do at Girls Action Foundation. In lieu of a piece of art, we will send you a short questionnaire so that you can share your advice with aspiring artists, creators, and makers.
How do I submit my work?: Send submissions to communications@girlsactionfoundation.ca by Sunday March 1, 2020. Submissions can be in French or English. If your art work isn't in a digital format, you can take a picture and send it to us.
What else can I do?: Spread the word! Encourage other girls* and young womxn in your community to participate.
