“This was an incredible training experience! The facilitators were phenomenal, skilled, knowledgeable facilitators who perfectly complement each other. I only hope to someday emulate them in my own facilitation. I am very appreciative for the training and cannot wait to return to my community and share my experience and knowledge”
Seven years ago, Girls Action organized its first Amplify – a national program on the design and facilitation of girl-specific programs from a social justice perspective. Amplify is a venue for those leading or starting girls’ programs to exchange their knowledge, experience and ideas. It is designed as a space to deepen our skills in popular education and anti-oppression.
Informed by Girls Action’s expertise and by girls’ organizers across the country, this training involves: designing programs, creating empowering spaces for girls from marginalized communities, developing workshops and facilitation skills, as well as deepening understanding of popular education and building community of support, while sharing resources and strategies.
Collectively, the skilled and creative Amplify participants, along with our dynamic facilitators, have contributed to shaping the Amplify program and Amplify Toolkit, a resource on how to apply popular education and anti-oppression to work with girls.
Each year, the program’s structure can change slightly depending on the funding we have secured. In 2013, the Amplify training was specifically for young women facilitators ages 18-25.
