Girls Action celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2020!

To celebrate this occasion, we had some surprises for you that we have been working on for a while, in partnership with artists, programmers and young leaders from our communities.

We are therefore delighted to launch our Girls Action 25th Anniversary Impact Report : We Believe In the Power of Girls*!

Furthemore, we are excited to present a song created by Lotus Collective, specifically for this special occasion. 9:16 Stories directed and produced a wonderful video which depicts the painter and muralist artist of Haitian descent, MALICIOUZ, live painting a mural in honor of the power of of girls*.

We are committed to continuing to support girls* and young womxn frontline leaders, for as long as the organization allows, and more so during this pandemic. In particular by continuing to organize virtual workshops by and for girls*, young womxn and gender diverse youth, by encouraging young artists from our communities and by offering them development opportunities.

That’s why, in partnership with Platform, we are organizing a Feminist Summer School! The Feminist Summer School aims to increase the capacity of young womxn and gender diverse youth to exercise intersectional and anti-oppressive leadership.

Through this partnership, we are setting the tone for the next 25 years of Girls Action.

25 years of Girls Action and more to come!

It’s through the generosity of our members, friends and allies that support us, whether it has been for years or since the beginning of this pandemic, that we can make such a great impact and help those aspiring artists, leaders, entrepreneurs and dreamers. We no longer wish to depend on conditional grants and be restricted by policies and governmental criterias.

Different ways to support us:

  • Make a donation (by mail or on our Canada Helps page), every amount is important. A receipt for tax purposes will be issued to you.

  • Share our campaign on your social media, tag a friend and tag us Girls Action. #thepowerofgirls !

  • Try to reach your favorites companies and influencers so they can help us make our cause be known and they can match donations

  • It’s almost your birthday ? Why not create a fundraising on Facebook ? You can use these Facebook fundraising tools.

Thank you for your support, we wish to have an impact during the next 25 years, by radically taking up space, by speaking loudly as girls*, womxn, and 2SLGBTQIA + gender minorities, by loving ourselves unconditionally, by filling in the gaps of the education and by combating social injustices on a daily basis.

With love and hope for a fairer and brighter future,

The Girls Action Team
